I believe that in ten years when we look back on the beginning of Music Makes Music, the 2010-2011 school year will be the one that defined this organization. Our “Music is Sick!” tour reached out to nearly 80,000 teenagers in 80 schools encompassing five western states. Our program developed and progressed right before our eyes and has turned into one of the most desired school assemblies programs in the Rocky Mountain States. We have also caught the ear of some amazing people who are now helping MMM succeed. No other person defines this statement better than the Utah Attorney General and our newest member to the board of advisors, Mark Shurtleff.
Last year we spent a great deal of time evaluating the effectiveness of program. What we found blew us away. The impact that the “Music is SICK!” program has on teenagers far surpassed our expectations. I invite you to visit our research tab on this website to view the results from these surveys.
While we are very proud of these accomplishments, I still believe we can do more. That is why this school year we will be implementing a handful of new ideas that will help us deliver our messages better and clearer. From better equipment, to new messages, to new musicians, this year looks to pick up where we left off and go even further.
I cannot say thank you enough to all of our volunteers, supporters and sponsors. We literally cannot do what we do without you. I would also like to say a special thank you to all of our musicians and road crew that traveled with us all last year. The hours are terrible, the pay is zero and the travel is excessive, yet you still performed at every school like it would be your last performance. Without your sacrifice Music Makes Music could not exist.
Finally, I would like to say, we need your support now, more than ever. Even if you can only give five dollars, I invite you to click the donate button and help Music Makes Music educate, motivate and inspire teenagers all over the country.
Thank you and wish us luck! We’ve got a long year ahead of us!
